rem 700 recall?

My uncle asked me to find out if his 30-06 model 700 is a part of the "upgrade" from remington. His serial number is C6426798, And what does he have to do to get the gun fixed.He said that he heard something on the news about the bolt safety thing. Appreciate any help or input.

  I heared this also. Go to Remington.com and look under Safty. The recall is for 1982 and before on the 700,600,660,721,722,xp-100 and the 40-x.They will clean, inspect and remove the bolt lock for 20.00 plus S/H. Hope this helps. [This message has been edited by my-handyman (edited 03-12-2002).]
