Remington Mod 17 20ga?
What can you tell me about them? A friend of mine told me he found one with very little finish left for $125. He said it seemed to be in working condition. Are they fragile? Are there parts? Collector value?Roy

It's basically an Ithaca 37. If it has no finish it's only worth the shooting value which isn't more than 150 A 17 with 90% finish is unusual but it still wouldn't approach a Win 12 in 20 ga. for value. 0 -
Actually an Ithica 37 is basically a Remington 17 since the Remington was introduced about 20 years earlier. Ithica waited until the patent expired and copied the 17. 0 -
So, in the condition that I described, is $125 out of line? Is $100 more like it? Will the Ithica and Remington parts interchange?Roy 0 -
It is a sweet little gun designed from the git go as a 20 ga. Some folks don't like the bottom loading. I would think it would be worth the $125 if it has a choke you like. But why not spend a little more and get a more modern gun like the 870 with 3 inch chamber, choke tubes and available parts and accesories? That 17 is probably 80 years old. 0 -
Thanks for the replies. I have plenty of "modern" shotguns. Just trying to be different and to add some oldies to the safe.Roy 0
