DC, I just bought one along with my uncle to eradicate woodies and cyote. The trigger is adjustable to some extent, three screws controle the whole thing. Mine has a crisp trigger now and no travel. It takes a few minutes to figure it all out. I had help from the guys here on the board. They are great! If you do choose to purchase this firearm I can't see where you will be dissapointed. My gun will shoot 1 inch group at 200 yards with hornady A-max bullets, not bad for a gun under 425.00 including scope and rings! Just don't be adjusting the wrong screw, one adjusts the safety engaging lug. My post is a few weeks old but I think you can still open it and get the proper info there, if not just open another, someone will know.
Though I was born to royalty, I was snatched at birth, so treat me as the noble I am!!!

Savage bolt actions do normally have a rather heavy and creepy trigger. They also are as accurate,or more so, than most others.I would not let that stop me.The trigger on yours may very well be acceptable. If not,the cost of a better quality replacement trigger is not that much.
