excellent lady's caliber. It is a 308 case necked down to 26 caliber. the 7mm-08's little brother. very accurate and mild recoil. All you need for whitetail to 300yds.core lokt bullets prob. run around $11/bx premiums prob. run about $16/bx[This message has been edited by JustC (edited 03-08-2002).]

The .260 Rem. is essentially a .308 cartridge necked down to accept a .264 bullet. The ballistics are very similar to the 6.5x55 Swede. It would likely be a decent caliber for a woman, a bit more recoil than a .243. Great caliber for white tailed deer. As to price, check some of the on-line sources like Cabela's: www.cabelas.com to get an idea.

Just my opinion, but the .260 is about perfect for N. American game. The 6.5mm/.264 bullets are diverse in weight and have a high ballistic coefficient (they don't shed velocity as quickly as, say a .358 caliber), and have high sectional density, meaning that they will penetrate well. The Nosler Partition bullets are ideal for deer.

The .260 was put together by Remington. It is a great caliber for a lady or man. Recoil is milder than the 25-06 or .270. Remington makes easy to find ammo in 120 gr and 140 gr.. If you hand load you can find 100 gr., which I consider perfect for whitetail. The 120's can be used for muley or whitetail, and if you shoot "well" the 140 in the partition or X bullet will drop elk. That may be controversial but the .270 with 130 gr are used in Idaho and Montana frequently. The Remington Model 7 with a laminated stock would be a good choice. Enjoy, Ozark

I think the 7mm08 is a better cartage, check it out. a lot of target shooters are useing them out to 300 yards, shoots about the same as a 270 with lot less powder and recoil. GOOD LUCK
