whats the deal with people pi**ing all over colts i have one. never had a problem with it. is it just because they are more $$$ than all the others and people buy whatever is cheaper because they cant afford a colt i have yet to see anyone complain about reliabilty\ functioning all of them are almost exactly alike with the exception of the barrels there has to be a serious answer to this just wanted to know thanks 0 -
I don't have a problem with colts or with people slammin them. What I don't understand is the people who think, for a given style of rifle, that one specific brand is the end all, and that every other brand is garbage. I don't see a reason to pay high $$ for a specific brand based just on the name when there are others out there that suit the purpose I intend them for. Often, the others are of equal or better quality. 0 -
Colt AR rifles do not usually have milspec lower receiver parts, pins. If yours does then you are set. Most folks are unaware of the incompatibility problems.Try and fit USGI pins, hinge pins, triggers, hammers, etc to a Colt.It can't be done.cpermd 0 -
Personally, I'm willing to knock Colts for the same reason I knock S&W and Ruger: They have made some anti-gun marketing decisions to appease our enemies. And cpermd is right. They are not MIL-SPEC weapons. Why would I want to buy a gun like that if I can't use commonly available replacement parts? I don't care for the attitude that they modified the design to force buyers into buying only Colt replacement parts, and can get away with it because they are COLT!. 0 -
there is nothing better or worse about either brand. If you want to interchange, buy something other than colt. My opinion is this, buy one of each and then the issue is mute.besides, if you had to take to the woods etc in a SHTF scenario, you aint gonna drag all your uppers with you. It's nice to have them, but it doesn't matter one bit when you need it for defense. You still can only shoot one at a time. just my .03 0 -
Just sent my 6601C in for the THIRD time to get it repaired!! First time compensator flew off while I was breaking it in,,(landed about 25 feet ahead of me in the dirt),,second time (different new rifle) caught the compensator just before it came off,,,third time (original rifle "repaired" with larger set pins} pins just fell out , compensator still on. This is bench rest shooting,,absolutely no abuse whatsoever. Not enough rounds fired through gun to even break barrel in completely. I was told that a bunch of these were sent out from the factory with the wrong set pins in them. Never got a recall,,haven't heard any body else having this problem,,,must just be my luck...next gun purchased was a Bushmaster,,then an Armilite,,,hope to have better luck with them,,,if this THIRD repair doesn't fix it,,there will be no Colts in my gun cabinet!!!! 0
