Had a gunsmith friend of mine tell me years ago that out of the box... a 700 Rem was the most accurate weapon. We are NOT talking indiviual weapons, but as an average lot.Good Luck! ...Mark

Hey 11 I have found the same thing Remingtons shoot better than winchesters, I got bull headed last year and went through 4 winchesters before I got one to shoot good. they were all used ones, so didn't get hurt to bad, But I have had enough Winchesters.

Remington 700 hands down...I have one in .30-06 and another in .264 Win Mag...they are both absolute tack drivers!

He has a model 700 in 243. He is mainly buying it for value and looks. As long as it will kill a deer... My experience with a model 70 is good. I have one in 222 and it will out shoot my 270 and 243 model 700. I think the super grade is a looker compared to the 700.

Well, it kinda sounds like the decision is already made...[This message has been edited by roundball (edited 03-05-2002).]

I had a post 64 Model70 in 264 mag that would shoot 5 shot groups @100 into 1" with Winchester factory ammo. My pre 64 SWIFTwill shoot handloads into an inch @200yds-you can keep your Remington 700's.
