accelarator sabots
I saw some sabots on the reloading auction that allow you to load .224 cal bullets in a 30 caliber rifle. They said the got 4100 fps out of the with no bore wear. I bought some for my 300 win mag and i was wondering if they would hurt my gun because it has the boss muzzle break on it.

I seriously doubt that you'll experience a problem as the hole in the boss is larger than that of the bore, as the boss just screws forward or backward to dampen vibration; unlike porting holes drilled dirctly into the barrel. I would expect a ported barrel to perhaps pick up some plastic fouling. In the case of the boss holes, the plastic sabot won't be passing by the holes with direct contact. I have shot some of the factory loaded .30-30 Accelerator rounds and was quite impressed, but they cost too much to use extensively. You've probably got the right idea loading your own. 0 -

My dad has some in the remington factory loads for his 30-06 but he never shoots them. I found mine on the Gunbroker auction. I want to load some 40 grain nosler ballistic tips for my 300 win mag they should shoot close to 4500 fps. I want them mostly to shoot groundhogs. 0 -
