I only know of pros with these two calibers. both are excelent choices for varmint. The .243 is easier to buy ammo over the counter in most places. And if you ever get the inclination to, you can use the .243 on deer alot better. If I where me, and I am, and plan to reload, which I do, and already own a deer rifle, which I do, I'd go for the 22.250...just my .02 worth
Though I was born to royalty, I was snatched at birth, so treat me as the noble I am!!!

Given that both will do the job on varmits (intentional misspelling in honor of Varmit Hunter), the .243 is probably more versatile. I would shoot both and decide which you like better/shoot better with.

In "my" experiance the 243 can be a finicky cartridge to reload especially for extremely precise shooting. On the other hand the 22-250 is one of the easiest to reload. So I would pick the 22-250. Recoil & other factors are about the same. This is the number one varmint caliber with the 220 a close second. RG

Both rounds will work great for varmints. You will get less wind drift with the heavier .243 bullets. Also can be used for smaller big game like deer and antelope if the versatility would be a factor in your decision.

MH, both are great rounds. But with my own experience, I have yet to see a 22-250 that does not shoot GREAT!!!! If you are going after a (Varmit) rifle, then I would recommend the 22-250 and using a 45gr hollow point. The recoil with either choice is hardly noticed, but the 22-250 seems to be a bit louder. Good luck on shopping, you won't go wrong with either one.

Yep, the .243 will take out most varmits, deer, and Chevy P/U trucks. And if you don't believe me, just call home and ask my wife...she has the bowtie off of a new Chevy hanging on the mantel of our fireplace.
