Firearms are considered antiques (i.e., no FFL needed) for pre-1898 firearms.C&R (Curio & Relic) firearms are either listed by the BATF or over 50 years old.If this is a WWII Garand (not a new Springfield Garand, or one of the "new receiver" Century Garands), then you may ship directly to a C&R FFL address (as listed on the license). Make sure the FFL has an original signature., and if you feel better, you can check the license validity with the BATF. They even now have a web site where you can put in a FLL number and see if it's valid (this may be accessible only for other FFL holders).

The FFL EZ Check does not work for C&R Licenses. You have to contact ATF for verification.I have been corrected, ATF will not verify C&R's if you call them.
