chopping off my BOSS
i have a winchester m70 .300wm stainless with the BOSS system on it...i would like to unscrew this and have my gunsmith cut and crown the barrel just below the threads... the reason for this is that i never use it, i dont mind the recoil and in the thick brush that i hunt in the gun is just too long...i was wondering if i could get some opinions on this

would you consider having him removeing the boss and making a thread protector / cap ? That way you still have the option of restoring the rifle when you sell it 0 -
Rather than cut the gun why don't you invest in a Browning "BOSS-CR"? This is the same device without the holes so you can avoid the harsh noise common to the "CRS" devices. Further, the new device will cost less than cutting and re-crowning the barrel while still allowing you to tune the barrel to the bullet. The replacement device should cost no more than $20. to $25. 0 -
sounds like a good reason to buy another rifle, you can never have 'to many'. 0 -
SOUNDS LIKE YOU SHOULD JUST HANG THAT WINCHESTER BACK ON THE RACK AND MAYBE INVEST IN A LEVER ACTION FOR THE BRUSH BUSTING!!! 0
