accelerators
Does anybody have experience handloading the accelerator type sabots? I'm curious to know what advice others might offer. What is the accuracy like? I'll be loading for a few calibers ie:308,30-06,30-30. I've never tried them before but my buddy raves about them.

My experience--inherently inaccurate relative to a standard bullet. 0 -
My Remington 700 / .30-06 shoots them like a tack driver...2" group at 200yds, no wind;I'm trying to locate the sabots myself so I can reload my own as factory accelerators are fairly pricey... 0 -
Hey roundball,That's why I asked, I want to reload some. The sabots are right here under reloading components, CHEAP $7.50/100. I ordered 200 for 18.00 w/shipping. I already picked up my bullets (55gr. Hornady). I'm gonna try em in all the guns:30-30, 30-06, 30 carbine and 308. They come with load data. In the '06 they're supposed to go 4350 fps!

I have reloaded these in the past, my only question since they were not for myself, Why? With all of the other great rounds on the market why worry about putting a smaller caliber bullet in a 30 caliber case? I asked my buddy this, he pays me to load his shells and after looking at what he was doing, decided to just keep the 55 gr bullets in the .22-250. This was a good idea, dont get me wrong, look at the name (6MMX284) I am all about expermenting and wildcats. The excelerators shot like no tomorrow, and with the thumping of his 30-06 he noticed his groups opened up, not to mention a day of shooting! I have not loaded any in a while and after his couriousity grew dim he also went with my prior suggestion...if you all find something different let me know, I am just a student here like you all and wish to learn. Please, I hope no one thinks I have something against these type of rounds. If I was to shoot something and did not want say rifling on the bullet this would be my first choice...oops, didn't mean to scare the public. Have a nice day and happy shooting....swishman

I'm guessing but I don't think they'll work in a .30 Carbine. I'm thinking the velocity of the .30 carbuine round is too low for the sabots to come off reliably. And where are you going to get data? Not that I've looked for it myself. 0 -
Load data ( I bought some too) lists 30 carbine at 3000-3450fps depending on powder-Ralph
PS- no, I have not loaded any yet, so I'm quoting data sheet supplied
Nothing very, very good or very, very bad lasts for very, very long.0 -
For load data on the sabots, go to:

Would the sabots leave any fouling behind or any excessive amount of fouling that would require more routine cleaning of the bore? Would you go about the cleaning process any differently? 0
