I would guess you're refering to an empty? The older ones do not have the spring assist that the newer magazines have....but when loaded with 13 rounds the weight helps...

That feature is perfectly normal for a Belgian pattern P-35 - never was designed to drop-free. Would suspect that the Inglis (Canadian) produced models are same, just don't know for sure. As for current production & FEG clones, beats heck outta me bro.Have read-up on the topic a bit so as to some day remove the magazine safety (which allows drop-free, and as a consequence also lightens the trigger pull considerably), but have yet to move on it. Bigger fish to fry, ya know.Any good pistolsmith could perform the operation for a modest charge, but please prepare yerself for a lecture on liability & other safety-related issues. Hope dis helps.best, joey

I have the same problem with mine. Mags won't drop and only pop out about a quarter inch.

I would think that the magazine safety gives enough friction against the magazine that free fall wont happen when empty

You can replace the trigger to eliminate the trigger safety and you mags will drop free. I bought a good wider target trigger for mine and replaced it in about fifteen minutes, it's not hard. The instructions came with the trigger. I think it only cost around 25-30 bucks. Some people have removed their original one and welded the detent on permanently. I only modify to the extent I can put it back to original.
