Bidders at farm auctions are nuts around here also.2001 Blue Book shows $375 for the one you saw IF it's 100% now if it was in somthing like 257 roberts ($850) 222 ($1150) or 223 ($1350)the price is much higher due to rarity

I thought they were out of their minds, A lady bought a Rossi .22Lr pump with an oct. barrel for $375 and said she stole it for that price-I think she mistook it for an old Winchester. All the guns went from 50% over Blue Book to more than double the value. It wasn't just guns, you could but an old beat up wheel barrow for $75 (the same thing new is $45). Crazy. I wanted to bid on an old Farmall tractor but left after the guns sold for fear of more crazy bidders.
Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

Last farm auction I went to things went so high I wanted to go home and get my guns and sell them. With the extra money, I could really start over.KC

You guys are missing the beauty of auctions. When those morons get carried away and pay twice what's something is worth, they run out of money and scare everyone else off. By the end of an auction everyone else is gone leaving great deals on the last few lots of merchandise. They are given away with no competition.
    ....I never met a gun I didn't like!
