I am selling a small modern rifle and an older musket. These require packaging for shipping with USPS. My local USPS does not have any suitable boxes. Any suggestions where to get them? I have tried the UPS store, Staples and Walmart.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Lenny

After looking everywhere, I went to my neighborhood gun shop and asked if they had any. They did, and gave me 3.

Its easy making boxes if ya just don't try to make all 4 sides at once. Attempt to make 2 "horseshoe" shapes, and mesh them together.Auto lots, especially those that deal in parts, are a great supply for long cardboard.Get a blank piece, cut it into 13" x 50" or so, "scour" down the length into 3 1/2"...6"...3 1/2" strips, bend up the scours into that horseshoe shape, make another, mesh fit together and bind with strap. tape. This makes a nice 3 1/2" x 6" rectangular box/tube.Slit corners of one end, down about 4" and fold ends in and strap again.Slip your wrapped hardware in and cut to length, plus 5 or 6".... slit ends again, fold in again, and strap tape.I am relieved, I don't worry about boxing anymore.Bob

I believe I saw them in Brownell's catalogue once...Looked tonight, but couldn't find them...That's not surprising with the way the catalogue is (dis)organized.. Tey 've got lots of good stuff , It's just hard to find.....

If you go and buy a box the proper size and strength for a long gun----you'll pay about $10.00+
I'd go to www.usps.com/ (postoffice)----from there you can order 'priority' boxes for "FREE"---and they will deliver them to you. From what I understand this is cheaper than using the other carriers for long guns.
