The DE pistols work best with loads that are "full-power" and have either a "FMJ and/or Semi-jacketed" type bullet.I like the 125 gr. Metal cased "UMC"

compgunfireI was told that i have to stick with 158 gr. bullets because they have the power to cycle the action.

I have a Coonan Arms .357 auto. It cycles everything well but my favorites (and the gun's also) is the Fiocchi loads. They are a little hotter than the others. My personal favorite is the 142 fmj. Try those I think you will like them. If you like hollowpoints try the 148 gr. They work great too.

Just curious but can you shoot .38 special thru it too?

No, .38 spl won't cycle the slide. The Coonan had a conversion kit so you could fire .38spl, but the Desert Eagle does not.

even the +P+ 38's will not work in the desert eagle. But then some 125 grain ammo does not even work
