Smith & Wesson SW99

Anyone have this gun? If yes, can you give me some feedbacks on this gun. I'm thinking about getting it for defense. It's going to be a 9mm. I was thinking about the Walther P99 but it was a little big for me so I was thinking about the SW99 instead. One more thing, Smith & Wessons make good guns right?

    i am interested in buying one in 45acp .Does anyone have any info on these guns? all opinions are welcome. thanks

    I shot this gun and liked it. It's compact and has a nice point of aim. From what I've read, the Walter P99 and this gun are nearly identical. What I don't like is that it's made by S&W. Their revolvers are great, but semi-autos a little behind when compared to the Sig or Glock. I carry the Glock and recommend you take a look at the Sig and Glock before you make up your mind.     Hi, thanks for you reply. I already have a Glock 23 and I LOVE it. Very nice and reliable. But what's wrong with their semi-autos? Are they not reliable or do they jam a lot or both. Those were my main concerns. Thanks again for your reply.

    I have a S&W 5906, shoots great, no jam problems and very accurate, I also own and recommend for self defense a Browning High Power, I know the rumor is out that Browning stopped production but after a call to them i found out they are going to start again, (how many times have they done this?). I own both the 9mm and 40 cal. I trust my life on either the Smith or Browning if i have to use them.

    I don't have one of the SW99s but I did have one of the first Walther P99s that the gun is based on. The collaboration between S&W and Walther has,IMHO, made a good gun even better. The ergonomics are exceptional, the accuracy is much better than 'service' grade and the reliability is excellant.The only problem that I had was of my own making. I just could not get used to the rather unique double/single action after the first shot. I wish now that I hadn't gotten rid of it, but, a new HK USP Compact 45 was calling me at the time. D***, I think I just talked myself into getting another one but it will be the SW99 in 40 this time.
