Its probably aftermarket, I know of no military mausers with this feature. You can buy double trigger replacements from a few places, if I'm correct the front trigger will be the safety and the back trigger will actually operate the shear.Alot of various mausers have and still are being sporterized by many people, and if you want to replace the bolt retainer that originally housed the guns only safety with a more sporty looking one without a safety then the only option to get another safety is by replacing the trigger group with one that has a safety. A double trigger is not the only option, but I guess it was what the person who modified that rifle wanted.Does the rifle still have the original safety on the back of the bolt or was it removed?

lee is probably correct that it is aftermarket, I've seen several in Brownells catalog, mostly for Mausers, however all the ones I've seen, the rear trigger takes up the slack and the front trigger is for let-off or can be used as a regular trigger. On my Steyr SSG which has a factory double trigger, the let off can be adjusted down to less than a pound

I believe that some very fine sporter Mausers were made by the Mauser factory with double triggers, but these were and are very expensive pieces of work and I can't imagine someone letting the stock go like that, but if that's what you have it is worth a pretty penny even in such condition. The action is identical to the military.

I thought wrong! The stock is original has 8823 on inside barrel channel, it definetly looks to be a factory sportster, the chekering on grip and forearm are nice, the fancy curves, etc. It does not looks homemade. It looks like someone painted or varnished overits finish and now its chipping and flaking it looks terible but other wise it has only a few scratches.Barrel is approx 23.5" long and fixed front blade and semi fixed rear V.( not like military) Any quesses as to country of origin?[This message has been edited by DENWA (edited 02-17-2002).]

If you would like to sell it let me have first crack at it. The condition does not matter as long as it's complete. If you want to restore it I know someone who specializes in such work but he's not cheap.
