Cresent Firearms
I was recently given an old 16g double barrel made by Cresent Firearms Norwich, Conn. The serial number is #010120 the only other marking is the word "Empire". I like the feel and look of the ole side by side and would like to return it to service. No hammers and the barrel is steel. I will have it checked out by a gunsmith before firing but would like to hear any opions on this gun. Good Bad or Ugly.Thanks

Joe, I have a Crescent side by also, but in 12 gage. The way that I understand it, Crescent started out making its own gun but then in the 19 teens started to manufacture for sears, wards, and just about anyone who wanted there name on a shot gun. Not a great collectible, but good field gun. My 12 ga still works just fine. Having a smith check it is a good idea, but I'll bet that it will be good to go!! have fun 0 -
