Glock Gun Jams

I have a glock 22, and the other day i took it out for some practice. It jammed about every 3 rounds. I'm not sure what it's called, but what happened was the empty cartridge did not eject from the chamber fully and the next round just got stuck on the lip of the first. I keep my gun very clean and was using Remington UMC "Leadless" loads (basically, a non-full metal jacket). They were 185 grain i think. I only use factory mags. Any ideas?

    I THINK ITS CALLED A STOEPIPE, MAYBE YOU HAVNT BROKEN THE GUN IN YET, OR MAYBE ITS THE MAGAZINE?

    Sounds like the extractor is not gripping the rim of the spent shell. Perhaps a worn or broken extractor or spring. Send it to Glock and you'll have it back before you have time to miss it

    Try these two things:1st-- Clean the gun thoroughly and see if that remedies the problem. If not, 2nd-- Change ammo. The Glock people will tell you that Glocks are designed for "full powered" ammo. Some of the UMC and USA ammo, though made by major ammo makers, have been known to be on the minimum side when it comes to power. I have a G19 that will not cycle USA ammo. It does exactly what you describe. But when I use good "full strength" ammo, such as Winchester Silvertips, it cycles perfect. If I had to guess what your problem is, I would say it is ammo related. Whatever you do, don't give up on the Glock. It can be made to shoot. If you can't solve the problem, call the Glock people in Georgia. A customer service rep will give you ideas of what to try. And if his suggestions don't work, they will ask you to send the gun to them. They will make it shoot.

    I had a Glock 17 which worked fine, with very light use (300 rounds at most through it) and started stove piping every 3-4th round. Thoroughly cleaned it, still a problem. Brought it to a gunsmith who went over it, couldn't figure out why it was doing it. Tried a few different brands of ammo, still a problem. Ended up trading it (and letting the dealer know of the problem) for a wheelgun that doesn't have any stove piping to worry about...

    Sounds like an extraction problem. I'd find a gunsmith or even a reputable dealer who could look at it hands on. I fire UMC through my 22, and never had a single malfunction, actually I haven't ever had a malfunction period with my Glock. I think one of two things, its either assembled wrong, or something in it (the extractor) is probably broke. But I have one question that could change my theory.Have you installed any aftermarket components in your Glock???

    I have had several Glocks in all calibers and have never had a jam or malfunction of any kind.

    Actually i have, but I don't think that affected it's function because I had similar (although rarer) problems before they were installed. The only change was a #3.5 connector, but it's a glock factory part.I just noticed though that my extractor is pretty worn... I don't remember what it looked like new, but the lip's edge is rather dull. This gun is pretty old. It's 1st generation and has seen many thousands of rounds since about '95 or '96.[This message has been edited by niklasal (edited 02-13-2002).]
