Markings on Mauser - Nazi?
I was told that the following markings on a Mauser were Nazi markings by a store that was selling it. I was informed that the markings were actually commercial post war marks. Does anyone know what the Nazi markings look like?christian

WEll the germans had a whole mess of markings... mine has the German war eagle with its claws clutched around a swastika. These appear on my NAzi marked FN Browning and on my Walther PPK. There could be others though.

If it's a Nazi Mauser it should have byf somewhere. The original ordnance marks will be up to 3 initials denoting man. Many were rearsenaled and additional proof marks should be evident. Try www.gunsworld.com for other ordnance marks. [This message has been edited by oneshy (edited 02-13-2002).][This message has been edited by oneshy (edited 02-13-2002).] 0 -
Upon further investigation I find that the Eagle over N makes this pistol a reissued capture by Communist forces. Try www.milsurpshooter.net for a German military handgun forum that can answer other questions you may have. 0 -
