From my experience, the Ruger P-series is an excellent quality gun. They are very reliable, reasonable accurate, and great value for the money. They may not have the finesse or fine tuning that you'd find in the Glock or the Sigs, but it is still a great gun. My P89 has 3000+ rounds and counting, not one single jam, no matter what i feed it.Mine cost $345, so expect to pay around that, maybe a little more for the P94. The balance takes some getting used to if you are used to glocks, but get some hogue grips to fix that.

Charles;Don't know much about the .40, but I have a Ruger KP95 in 9MM and I LOVE IT. The KP is the one with the polymer lower and the stainless slide. I like that look. The good stuff: Lots of bang for your buck. I got my 95 late last year and Ruger had a $40 rebate. Paid around $320 if I remember correctly. It felt great in my hand (I don't have a large hand and the square butt of the Glocks just didn't fit me right). It also shot really well right out of the box. Not mods or adjustments were necessary. It has a consistant trigger pull and breaks down easily for cleaning. Also comes standard with easy to acquire sights, but a quality set of night sights is always a good upgreade regardless of the weapon! Now the "bad" stuff: Some say it is top heavy, but I don't see it. I keep a full clip in it and it feels very balanced when I shoot it. It is a tad on the heavy and thick side, however for concealed carry. I don't have a problem concealing it now, but as the temperatures warm up I'll probaby switch to a thinner, more easily concealable gun for everyday carry. All in all I like the Ruger. I would not hesitate to add another to my collection or to recommend it to anyone. But your best bet is to find a local dealer with a range, or a friend who owns one and throw some rounds down range before you purchase.Good luck with whatever you end up with.

i have a p94 with many round through it. i have had one jam in the first box of shells and nothing scince. it is large for concealed carry but i dont carry concealed,at least not with that.it has had no work done on it and i am happy with it right out of the box. it does have large grips but i have large hand and really like the way it feels.
