Choke tube oil
Is this stuff really critical, or can any oil be used?

i have a win choke system that is now a modified barrel. now i use a silicone grease in a tube from an auto parts store. [i picked up a used barrel] a better grease can be bought from a lab supply house--Dow Stopcock Grease. but, any lube regularly is better than nothing. check tightness with the insert wrench before each shoot and lube 0 -
The stuff I always used was more of a grease/anti-seize compound. When I was shooting SC I'd lube the threads about once a month (changing tubes often) For hunting purposes about once a season. The big advantage is being able to get the tubes out next year.Hows progress on the 8x56R ?Bob 0 -
No news on the 8x56R since slugging the bore, measuring .3315. Bullets I were shooting were .3275 so that was why it wasn't accurate.

I use engine assembly lube on screw-in chokes. Sta-Lube E.P. Anti Seize engine assembly lube with moly & graphite. It comes in a tube. Just squeeze a little on the threads and screw in the choke tube. 0 -
I have been using TC Bore Butter for years on choke tubes and have had not one complaint. 0
