Ammo Laws?
I've recently gotten into old military surplus rifles and find that I'm buying a lot of surplus ammo, since this ammo is often sold in rather large quantities (like 500 or 1000 rounds). I was just wondering if there are any laws that limit the amount of ammo a person can have in his possession without having an FFL or something. This ammo is nothing special, just stuff like 8MM Mauser or 7.62x39 type stuff. Maybe this is a dumb question, but I'd rather ask a dumb question than make a stupid mistake. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never heard of a Federal law, but States and Counties may have something that covers REALLY large ammo storage areas. Like several million rounds. Suppose your local fire marshal would want to know about it, but again, I don't know of any laws. 0 -
Well, I certainly won't ever hit the one million mark, but 3 or 4 thousand might happen. I guess you're probably right about the local laws. I suppose that's where I should check. Thanks. 0 -
I have about 40,000 here.I did have the local fire and LE folks come by to look at it.cpermd 0 -
I sure hope not. 0 -
The gun grabbing liberals wanted to require classification to "ARSENOL" to EVERYONE who had more than a couple boxes of ammo
the measure failed in the house.0
