.41Short Rim
Does any have any knowlage about the .41 ammo. These went in the old Remington Derringer. A friend of mine came onto a box in a trade. It's a box of 50, Winchester Mfg. the seals arn't ever broken. Is this a disireable item? These are rim fire.

Yankee, depends on box condition, but yes they have value as a collectible. And as shooters if they are in good condition. 0 -
Yes the box is in very good condition, and as I said the seals are not even cut. 0 -
This ammo is collectible, but the availability of newly manufactured stuff has had an effect on the value of some of it.Basically, older and better condition is worth more than newer and lesser condition, and Winchester is always a premium. I haven't been checking on it lately, but some of this stuff has been going for $50 - $75 a box in the past.I sure wouldn't shoot it. I would go to the biggest gun show I could find, and see if I could find comparables, as well as keeping an eye on the gun auction sites.redcedars 0 -
Thanks Red: I was just trying to find out for him. Do you have any knowlage of where the new Mfg. ammo could be located? 0 -
Yankee, the new stuff was made for Navy Arms and you should be able to get some through a dealer or a net search. I'm sure Old Western Scrounger would have it - but, as always with them, at top dollar. If the Winchester box is in VG condition, the next question is what version it is. Generally, the older the better, but there were some packaging variations between the World Wars that are quite rare in any loading. If you could send me a scan / pic at tcg25@hotmail.com I might be able to give you a better idea. Icon 0 -
