Blackhawk .357 + 9mm -- A Good Idea?
Ruger makes a version of the Blackhawk that comes with an extra cylinder for 9mm, so you can shoot .357, .38, or 9mm with the same gun. I like the idea, but is that just because I don't know better? Is it a gimmick or a worthwhile second pistol after a .22 like the Mark II? Does accuracy suffer trying to shoot all 3 calibers out of the same barrel?

A Black Hawk 357/9mm convertable was the first gun that I bought and would be one of the last ones I would ever sell. I can put rounds in the black all day long with either caliber. Also being a single action gun you don't burn up tons of ammo. 0 -
I had a hard time loading the 9mm cylinder.Since there is no rim & no half-moon clipI found that it was very picky regarding what rounds it would take. There was no problem with the .38/.357 cylinder. 0 -
Isn't this the gun that you have to slip the 9mm ammo onto a plastic holder and place it over top of the open cylinder?

This is the Blackhawk model, a single action that is loaded by dropping the rounds singly through a loading gate. 0
