Value of WW II Leather Jeep Rifle Scabard?
Any WW II experts out there? Need some feed back on this! Can anyone tell me the "VALUE" of an old, original leather Jeep rifle scabbard with straps made in 1942 by "US Boyt" and used in WW II. I believe they were made to hold the M-1 carbine or the M-1 Garand or may be either would fit. It is my understanding these scabbards were made specifically for used by soldiers riding in or driving around in a Jeep during the war. This way the soldier had a convenient place to temporarily place their gun while driving the Jeep, yet still have easy access to his weapon (Somewhat similar to the old cowboy scabbards used for carrying their rifles while riding their horse). I estimate it to be in 80% + condition! Leather is not rotted, brittle, cracked, broken nor does it have any gouges or cuts. Stitching is perfect! It has very few scratches and light scrapes on it! Any input concerning this items value would be greatly appreciated.

I had mint ones which I sold for $300-400 a few years ago. If I remember correctly, each one had three straps.[This message has been edited by p0838 (edited 02-09-2002).] 0
