    It could be that your rifle is one of those that was manufactured or re-arsenaled in Pakistan by the Pakistani Ordnance Factory.How is the rifle marked on the left side of the action?

    Your rifle was manufactured by Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerly, Lancashire, U.K. The PF is merely a serial number prefix, although it may have had some meaning to the factory it is obscure; probably indicating a batch number. Your rifle is pictured and discussed on page 343 of "The British Service Lee" by Ian Skennerton, where it is stated, "Serial numbers are usually prefixed by "PF" although later rifles have an "A" prefix.

    Yep, that's correct. #4 Mark II's that were believed made in Pakistan have P.O.F. markings (not part of the serial number) with other P markings including PF on various parts.
