Which Marlin 45/70 lever is better?
Hi Folks, I'm looking at 2 new 45/70 Marlin levers. One is the 26" octagonal barrel, the other is a 20" or 22" inch (I forget). Both handle and balance well. The only advantage I can see is that the shorter barrel might be easier to move with in the woods.Thanks.Bob

The 1895G Guide Gun in .45-70 is available in 18 1/2 inch barrel and is ported to cut down on the recoil. If you are not recoil friendly , this may be your may to go. 0 -
interesting, this came up, me and a friend, fired three marlins, and a rolling block.and chronyed them. we found rx7 was the best powder. we got a spread of only 70 fps in the marlins. and 130 fps in the rolling block. i got 2180 fps in my ss guide gun, with 385 gr bullet. carl 0 -
