Browning A-Bolt II Question
I have a question. I just picked up my A-Bolt II White Gold Medallion in .270 yesterday. If you have not seen this rifle it is absolutely beautiful. I took it home and proceeded to thoroughly clean it. I took the trigger guard and mag well cover off and removed the action/barrel assembly from the stock. On the back of the action there is a hexagonal threaded bolt. The back screw of the trigger appears to screw into this bolt. There was also a metal tab approximately 1.5" long bent into a slight angle with a hole in one end to slide over this hexagonal bolt. Unfortunately I did not look at this tab carefully enough to notice it's orientation when the rifle was reassembled. So my question is, when the rifle is reassembled in the stock and the tab is in place. Does the angle of the tab go upward or downward? The diagram in the owner's manual does not even show this piece.Thanks. If you need pictures I can take them and post later.

I just picked up the same rifle a couple Fridays ago. Haven't got around to taking it apart yet. I got mine without the manual and haven't printed it off from their website yet. You're right, it's a beautiful rifle. Bought mine used with 5 rounds fired through it. Came with a silver Leupold Vari-XIII 3.5x10x50. If you find out something I should know, please pass it on. I'm sure someone here will know what you're talking about, as I haven't disassembled mine to clean it yet. Sorry I can't be of any help, but congratulations on your new acquisition. 0 -

the angle goes down. that piece helps to provide extra holding power for the rear of the action. basically it is there for a little extra tension when the screw is tightened 0 -
