i would say that at $89 for almost 1000 rounds its almost worth finding out for yourself, if its bad ammo go back to where you got it and tell him it sucks and stop saying its better than wolf and let us{GB message board users}know and we will stay away from it.good luck

960 rounds? Sounds like someone bought a case, shot two boxes and didn't like it. Just my 2 cents.-Marcus

Gravedigger,That's how the ammo comes packed from the factory. No one is getting taken. If you look at a case, the way the Russians pack them, 960 rounds just fills the wooden box (48 boxes arranged 6x4x2 in a crate). As far as, "is it better", I suspect this is an issue of the local dealer have it to sell and hence, "it's better than xxxxx". Buy a couple of boxes and try it in a clean rifle. If it shoots better than Wolf, buy a few cases. If not, tell the dealer what you want and see if all of a sudden he gets that in stock. (or buy on-line from any number of good dealers!)

I picked up a case of JSC brand 7.62X39 at a show yesterday. The JSC looks like it has less lacquer and appears to be higher quality than the Wolf, I havent shot the JSC yet though. The guy who sold it said that he thinks it is about the same, but with the lesser amount of lacquer it makes it worth trying to get it instead.

I just bought some from aim surplus. It came 960 per case. It is tula cartridge works. It shoots the same as wolf. It dosent have the sealer around the primer and mouth. That red stuff that flakes off in your reciever! It is worth the money.

I've sold this same stuff (960rd cases) for the last 6 years, it works just fine. All the hipe about Wolf ammo usually comes from somebody that wants you to buy Wolf ammo from them. The only problem I've encountered is that some AK's don't like hollow point ammo, it hits a the bottom of the barrel and doesn't feed in. It wouldn't matter who made it, if the gun wasn't meant to take it. I just had to ramp another AK barrel last week for a gun who's AK didn't like hollow points. I've only seen this on AK's where the barrel used was originally a military barrel. The AK's made new for this country are set up to take the HP ammo already. The manufacturers know that the Russian HP ammo is what a lot of people shoot, so they make sure it is set up for it from the start. The first time I encountered an AK not feeding, I couldn't believe it. It wasn't until I checked it out for the guy, that I discovered the problem and the solution. Having sold AK's for over a decade and a half, I'd never encountered that until last year. I haven't found any BAD Russian 7.62x39 ammo yet. Some of their other calibers however, they made need some more practice with.
