Why not ask Swarovski? http://www.swarovskioptik.com/nf/us/hunting/contacts.htm Then, tell us what you found out.

I think that reticle is what is sometimes called a "ladder reticle" or "Christmas Tree reticle" - and yes - it's used for ranging. The only one I'm familiar with is the 10xX42mm scope Barrett rifles used to sell with their 50 caliber rifles. I believe the reticle was set up to range from 600M to 1800M.

I have a Kahles AH 3.5X10X50 with the TDS Reticle. The TDS Reticle is licensed to Swarovski. T. D. Smith(the designer of the TDS reticle) was an Air Force fighter pilot. He taught at the Top Gun Fighter School for seven years. The TDS Reticle is a range estimating reticle. There are several things that you will need to know before it will work. Of course the simplest one is knowing which caliber you intend to shoot. Then you will need to bullet type, weight and velocity. These are important when using the TDS "Factor" reference numbers. Fairly easy system to use once you get the hang of it. It is a much proven system.
