Need help with ar15 upper

need to id an upper it say on the barrel just before the front sight c mp 5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR It also has s r1 in a(circle)1 on the right side of the front sight.

  Those are Colt barrel markings.What marks are on the R side of the upper by or below the rear sight?cpermd

  there are none by the rear sight. The only ones are the ones I wrote down.

  it on an eagle arms lower

  There is no way to tell the maker of the upper if there are no forge marks on it.cpermd

  thanks. If I wanted to change the receiver to a flat top will all the parts work from my a2 and how hard is it to do.

  You need either barrel blocks or a receiver block to hold things still.Take out the gas tube pin,then the gas tube.Use a M16 combo wrench to uscrew the barrel nut.The barrel will then slide forward out of the upper.Get one of the USGI tech manuals.Fairly easy.cpermd
