Bongoman,If that 1906 is for real, meaning factory done then it would be very rare and very valuable. There were not a lot of special order 1906's because they were made for the more economical market with shorter barrel's,and gumwood stocks. Usually the only ones that were nickled were the expert model with the pistol grip stock. They were offered in half nickel (reciever and butt plate nickled) and full nickel. I collect some and have never seen an original engraved 1906. That doesn't meen Winchester didn't make some as they would do almost any modification for a customer in those days. You need to have your gun verified by a serious 1906 collector. PS THe expert didn't come out until 1919 so thats out. Dave Kidd of Big Sandy, Montana was the co. author of Winchester Slide Action Rifles model 1890 and 1906 and would probably be the leading authority on originality of your gun. If you could find what magazine it was featured on that would greatly increase value.Good Luck wundudnee
