Restoration techniques
I have been collecting some of the WWII rifles, Arisakas, and would like to know to what extent they should be cleaned and restored without destroying the historical value of the item. If the metal parts have rust how to go about removing the rust without damaging the remaining blueing. The same for the woodparts, how to clean without removing the original patina that reflects the history and possibly the battlefield significance of the item. Some of the ones I like best look like they have been in someones attic since they brought it home from the war.Any suggestions or any references to reading materials would be appreciated.

I have used RB-17 and 0000 steel wool for a long number of years. It is made for this purpose and has always worked with no problems. 0 -
