I recently came across a the subject .22 cal, rifle with an 18 inch nickle barrel. Both wood and metal are in excellent condition. What is the approximate value?

  Ah yes the Quackenbush of Herkimer, NY. You have to love it just for the name. They made several different models. To my knowledge all had excellent nickel plating. If in true exc. condition value the plank stocked gun @ 350 and the regular stock @ 450.It is very unusual to find one of these in exc condition as most were boys rifles and suffered thru their abuse and neglect. The one that I own is chambered in 22 long not long rifle

  I wouldnt use anything more powerful than the Remington CBEE22 low velocity 22 Long ammo not even standard velocity 22shorts or the chamber will start to bulge.I believe Quackenbush is still in business making nutcrackers and lobster picks.
