Weaver Scope estimate

I have a 53 year old model K6-S X No Mts Weaver Scope that I sent to Weaver to get some repairs made on it. I was wondering what the value of this scope would be today. I have it on a model 722 Remington .222. The repairs that need done are...removing the lenses from their cells, taking them apart to clean them, recenter and recement them back together(all 10 lenses), and recementing the lenses into their cells. The cost is totaling $64. Would I be better off to buy a new scope, or just repair this one?

  Cost effectively you are doing the right thing to repair the one you have. Technology wise, you could up-grade for not a whole lot more money. See Nikon, Tasco, or others. Nikon makes some great scopes for the money. However, I'll be a Leupold man till I die.

  The "Ford" model of its' day. the K6 was built from 1950 to 1984 when Weaver closed the doors, and announced the company was for sale. In 1963 it listed for $48.50 and by 1976 it was up to $69.95. It's value today ranges, depending upon condition, from $35 or $40 up to about $100 for a new in box scope with all papers.As a peice of history/nostalga the scope is worth repairing. It certainly is a venerable scope that has served for years. It does not compare to todays "ford and chevy" models of scopes optically and lacks the multicoatings of today.
