Cost effectively you are doing the right thing to repair the one you have. Technology wise, you could up-grade for not a whole lot more money. See Nikon, Tasco, or others. Nikon makes some great scopes for the money. However, I'll be a Leupold man till I die.

The "Ford" model of its' day. the K6 was built from 1950 to 1984 when Weaver closed the doors, and announced the company was for sale. In 1963 it listed for $48.50 and by 1976 it was up to $69.95. It's value today ranges, depending upon condition, from $35 or $40 up to about $100 for a new in box scope with all papers. As a peice of history/nostalga the scope is worth repairing. It certainly is a venerable scope that has served for years. It does not compare to todays "ford and chevy" models of scopes optically and lacks the multicoatings of today.
