Thoughts? You should have spent a little more and got a Makarov. The PA-63 has a lighter frame and will tend to kick more than the standard Makarov. The Makarov also has approx. 20 fewer parts than the PA-63, making it more reliable.[This message has been edited by boeboe (edited 01-15-2002).]

You might want to check out makarov.com, they have a page for other pistols which describes the heavier recoil of the PA-63, it is: http://makarov.com/others/index.html

I dodn't think it has more recoil than any other 9mm, I think its the narrow-ness(if that a word) of the pistol grip which hurts the hand. You can find that ammo in 90 gr, but your going to pay few dollars more than wolf.

I have experienced this and can attest that the Wolf ammo is absolutely BULLISH! It kicks worse than a .45! My handloads, even with the max powder load, are mild in comparison! I too now hesitate to shoot Wolf.
"...hit your enemy in the belly, and kick him when he is down, and boil his prisoners in oil- if you take any- and torture his women and children. Then people will keep clear of you..." -Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, speaking at the Hague Peace Conference in 1899.

Thanks for the replies!Saxon, How bad can it be? My Colt 45 is a pussy cat compared to the PA 63 shooting the Wolf ammo. I kid you not. Fire belching two to three inches out the barrel and a slam big time kick. No joke, after three or four clips, my hand was red in my thumb web area.I have what I consider to be strong hands. I wear an XL glove and worked in telecom for twenty years using pliers, side cutters, and could cut a twenty-five pair and bigger cable with one squeeze of the dikes. I tell you, this PA 63 packs a kick. Like Jonk said, maybe it is the ammo.Right now I'd pay good money for cushioned wrap around grips or a shooters glove that's padded in the thumb web area.I've shot 357 mags, 45s and other large cal pistols and this one takes the cake.Maybe it is the alloy frame combined with the ammo. I'm going to get a different brand shell and give it a try. This gun sure does get a lot of attention at the range though....Thanks, DT

I own a PA-63 and really enjoy it using the original factory grips
but have never used wolf ammo
this gun is a tack-driver----and that maakarov round is a good bit hotter than my .380
if there are any good rubber grips available---i'd sure like to have them
would also like to find rubber grips for my tokarev chinese model #54--if anyone knows the whereabouts of where these all slipped off to!
