Saw your post that you left for me on the question I had on the scope mounts on my 93 mauser. I have another question. Do all bolts for 1893
mausers interchange? My bolt has a bent knob that has been bent to far
I saw a bolt on the auction that is for a 1893 cabine and I am not sure if they had a rifle and a carbine or just the carbine. I also saw on on ebay how much should a stripped bolt and a full bolt cost?

Great! Sounds like a keeper/shooter. Pitted barrels often surprise us as to their retained accuracy. The military once did a study on 1911 .45 Auto barrels of all degrees of corrosion and found that some very badly pitted bores would still group 4 inches at 25 yards. As for the old two stage military trigger pulls--they do take some getting used to. Once one realizes that the first part is just slack and does nothing at all, you can immediately take it up until resistance is met, and then start the real squeeze.

My trouble is that I can't see the darn target... of all my military rifles, I never get a grouping like that even with match ammo and mirror bores. Of all my dad's positive traits, why did I have to inherit a negative one- bad eyesight?

Jonk,During your milsurp hunting excursions, you should try to find "Eyeball, No II Mk I* Type with Variable Focus, One Each." Believe it was a British product, packaged with instant tea and a hard biscuit.
