Generally, 110gr. is the lightest you see most "factory type" ammo in .308. You may find some with a 110 gr. plinker. Personally, I like a 110gr. hollow point, aka "varminter" loaded up to about 2700 fps. I know you are looking for factory, but that should give you half of an idea. Are we talking ground-hogs, praire-dogs...etc..? Just curious.

Whoops, I meant to say you might see a 100gr. plinker, but that is mostly in reloads. There may some smaller, but not very usefull. You gotta have a little weight.

I cannot tell you what is best; but the lightest bullet I can find in distributor catalogs for Remington, Federal, Hornady, or Winchester factory ammo is 150 grain.

I see that Corbon has a 125Grain Hp at 3150 FPS and Ultra Max offers a 110 grain Sierra HP. Anyone have any experience with these ammo types ? By the way these guys are shooting coyotes and woodchucks accross the fields here in the snow covered north east.

If you are going to use a 308 Then take a look at remingtons accelerators. Its the same bullet as the 223 and 22-250 but made to shoot in the 30 caliber guns.Ask your local shooting supplies about them.If they dont have them they can order them from remington.I think they are 55 gr.

Saw the accelerator a week ago at sportsmans warehouse.I sent an email to remington and they said they still had them. Here is one site if you are thinking about reloading them.WWW.eabco.com/reload02.html

I don't have experience with the accelerators, but I would use at least 110gr. h.p. on coyotes. Actually, that is not true, I use 150 gr., ballistic tip Noslers. But that is just me.

You dont need a heavy bullet for a coyote unless you are trying to blow it apart. Small Bullet placed right does the job.
