7mm
I am considering the purchase of a 7mm as a backup rifle to my .270 Weatherby Mag. I notice that there are several variations to the 7mm (ie: 7mm Remington, 7mm WSM and 7mm Remington Ultra Mag). What are the differences? I think the 7mm RUM would probably be similar to my .270 Weatherby. I hunt big game in Colorado at ranges over 200 yards. 7mm has a wide variety of bullet types and weights to chooose from unlike the .270.
I am considering the purchase of a Sako Hunter. Are there any models of the Sako I should stay away from? I have been told the the 1970's Garcia models should be avoided. How would I know the differences?

Buddy, has a vanguard that shoots fine he paid $400 a few years ago for it. I think Wally world sells these for about $368 they are the synthitic models.

Wally World does sell the synthetic with blue model for $388 in GA. I would have bought one myself, but they only had a 30-06 and I already have one of those. 0 -
My memory tells me this is the same as the Howa 1500.The Weatherby name tacked $300 on the pricw.cpermd 0 -
cpermd has nailed it. I don't believe $900 or even $700 is a great price, However, I don't think the current Vanguard is a Howa, as Weatherby dropped the most recent model of the Vanguard in 1993. Unless they have revived it. 0 -
Friend of mine has one in 7mm rem mag. He paid less than $400 at wally world in MD. I think the difference is in the fact that it does not have the mark V action or finishing. 0 -
I hope Weatherby has corrected the bolt on the newer model. The recall #'s listed on the web site were unreal. You may want to check your serial number and see if your bolt needs to be sent back as well. Just go to their web site and you can get all the info. Or look in your monthly issue of the NRA mag. 0 -
THANK YOU JHJ370.I checked the serial no. and the gun did have a defective bolt.It will be sent in and fixed at no charge to me.Anyone who has a weatherby rifle go to the website and check the serial nos. 0
