Standard Arms
I would like to know if anyone knows what caliber the Standard Arms Camp gun used.I missed one here in Northern NY, that some lucky gentlemen now owns.I did see one once that also had 28G stamped on the barrel.Anyone with any info?I also have a 35 Standard Arms Cartridge.

Marty-These folks went out of business not too long back. Frankly, it was overdue. I presently have three of these pistols in inventory, probably never will sell them; and here, not-too- briefly, is how it came to happen. Like many manufacturers Standard sent out flyers announcing their product to everyone on the dealer list before production was fully underway. I usually do not respond to these, but was impressed by the size and weight of this gun when considerering that it is a 9mm. I had business in the Reno area anyway and visited the factory, met the No.2 man, and purchased the three pistols. I should have heard warning bells going off upon learning that the upper management had previously been associated with Lorcin, but this pistol looked and felt entirely different. The fellow I talked to freely admitted that the Standard was a "knock-off of Kel-Tec". He said that the pistols were guaranteed to function only with PMC Brand 115 gr. FMJ, and that the earliest guns had feeding problems with everything until they changed the angle of the feed ramp by 2 degrees. Nevertheless, the price was right and I purchased three, each with an extra mag. A few days later back at my shop I testfired all three. At 7 yards all three shot approx. 1 ft. low and 1 ft. left. I learned this after firing several magazines, because at 25 and 15 yards I was clueless as to where the rounds were going and kept moving the target in. I invited a customer to shoot them and he experienced exactly the same results. None of the pistols would fire more than two consecutive shots without jamming. Admittedly, I was using Federal Brand 115 FMJ, but.......? Further, two of the pistols lost their rear sights on the first magazine. Being a gunsmith, I determined to do what I could to solve these problems. Centering the groups was easily done by moving the rear sight to the right and epoxying the sight in place, but I could not raise the group without installing a new set of sights, as the original front sight is too low to file down. I solved the jamming problem by polishing the feed ramps and installing a double recoil spring system like you will find in other small pistols such as the Llama Mini-Max. I also polished the barrels. All of this resulted in pistols that would function reliabily, but which still shoot a foot low at 7 yds. and will only feed FMJ. I wrote a lengthy letter to the factory addressed to the individual with whom I had done business, and summarized my findings and made recommendations on how to solve the problems. The letter was courteous, but I never received a reply. My advice to you: If you've got one, get rid of it. If you're thinking about buying one, don't. 0 -
I cannot agree strongly enough with the previous poster. I too am a dealer and ordered 2 of the Standard Arms 40 cal d.a.o. pistols from a distributor. They look very cool and the price was good, so I thought. When they arrived I took one look and was shocked, these were the biggest pieces of sh** I have seen for some time. Luckily my distributor took them back and I was no worse for the effort. Yep, gotta agree these were/are total Lorcin/Raven/High Point material.
