It is a good feature for me as I shot either hand. It was not hard at all to get used to.Shooting with the left hand you had to stop and think which way was safe or not. I personally like this feature.

If you're plaanning on buying a M-2 don't bother. They are complete junk. I know because I work at Sig. If you want a nice concealable 45 get the 245, great gun. The M2 is manufactured in Germany and the slide work is not real good. It also doesn't like the steel cased wolf ammo. One article put it this way, "its a gun that you carry more and shoot less." Just my opinion.

I'm not sure what the month of publication was, but it was in a combat Handgun 2001 edition. It talked about the the new all stainless 220, which is a fantastic weapon, and the M2 a very innovative gun with a reliable action, but needs to be refined and a different safty put in place FOR CONCEAL CARRY ONLY. If you plan on just having a gun to bring to the range and do some occasional plinking than the safety is fine. This is not a weapon that is suited for LAW ENFORECEMENT USE. This comes straight from Sig Arms. I have talked to the gunsmiths, CNC operators, and armorers at Sig Arms about the M2. the M2 is produced in Germany, not the USA. The M2 is a great gun within its own parameters, but cannot compete with the rest of the .40cal, .357, and 45acp weapons sig arms produces.I work for a private firm that is contracted by Sig to work at the facility in NH, and was a police officer and worked in the L.E community for several years. This does not make me an expert on firearms, but from working at Sig for almost a year, I have had the opportunity to speak with firearms experts who have been in the firearms industry for more than 30 years. The machine work on the slides (M2) is somewhat shotty. These words come from the CNC machinists that produce all other slides except the 210, 232, Hamerlli, and M2. The 220,226,228,229,239,245 are all produced in New Hampshire.Once again if you want a pistol that has a new style and is innovative, then by all means buy a M2. I feel that as a collector and shooter the M2 does not do the Mauser name justice. But thats my opinion. I meant no disrespect to the M2. It is a good gun compared to the competition, such as S&W Chief Special .45acp, and with a little more refining, could be a very nice little conceal carry, my hope is that they will start production in 9mm, which will make it even better, and more economical to shoot.P.S, be on the lookout for some new stuff from Sig.

thanx for your info and ops Captain and 110.I found the .45 M2 to maintain a good feel in my hands , tho7ugh I didnt get a chance to shoot it. 110 makes interesting points about the LE potentialof the piece, but that doesnt rule out its use in home defense ect.Captain you say you like the saftey and you opinion from your exp.is what I was looking for , Thanx!110-from your posts it seems like the traditional SIGS are the companies best products....whats up with the German production probs???!!
