i have a rifle barrel marked marlin fire arms co pat aug.1 1893 want some info on it..it is marked 25-20.is this the cal or is this the top barrel for a 25 cal-20ga rifle/shotgun combo....thanks

  I'm looking for a barrel for my Rem 760 in 308.Have tried several dealers from the Remington website,still no luck.Can anyone help?

  The barrel is for a 1894 lever action rifle.They made it in 25-20,32-20,38-40 and 44-40.The first number indicates caliber and the second number indicates the amount of black powder that was used.A very basic thing in the old days,however there were many different ways to name cartridges.That was among the first.
