pistol-barrel lenght

This maybe a beating a dead horse but, I am considering a 454 andd am interested in what you think is the best lenght. I have a super red 44 mag with 7 1/2 barrel. I guess the question is between 7 1/5 and 9 1/2 all input welcome thanks Rich
