shooter5, where I am at we are not permitted to use artificial light so we are dependant on fresh snowfalls and of course the moonlight. On a full moon night you would be shocked at how well a person can see. I do use a call, rabbit squealer or something like a rodent distress seems to work great, also have had some success with a grey fox pup tape. I setup in a fence line or just below the crest of a hill, to break my outline, and call giving each setup at least 30 minutes after calling, this may be long to others, but I blew it a couple times moving to soon. The coyotes always hit us fast, its not like waiting on a bobcat, but it is alot of fun, as for the light I have no idea, we are that fortunate, hope this helps... look or orphanedcowboy on here, I have spoke with him and he is a real Vat of knowledge and I guarantee he can answer your questions....good luck...swishman (in the dark)

Is it legal to hunt Coyote in Michigan? I have a practical reason to do so since we and our neighbors (distant) have been losing cats like we are feeding a herd of them. I have seen them on occasion.

landisYes it is legal to hunt coyotes in Michigan. Hunting rules state that coyote may be hunted or trapped on private property by a property owner or designee at any time if they are doing or about to do damage on private property. A license is not needed.Farther down in the rules it says residents possessing a valid small-game licence may hunt coyote during the established season.Farther down still it says all hunters using a ,22 cal.rimfire to take a furbearing animal, day or night, from Nov10-Nov.14 must have a furharvester license.Regular season is July15th to April 15th. Pick up a coppy of the rules and read them well as it can be confusing. We hunt them all year on our farm. We always scream out Mr coyote, what is your quest. If he answers I am doing or about to do damage we let em have it.
