Ar15 1/7 twist vs. 1/9

Depends on the bullet you are shooting as to which is best. Up to about 62 grain bullets the 1in9 is best, 62-80 a 1in 7. The reason being for the heavier bullets you need a faster twist for stabilazition. Personally I shoot mostly 69 grain Serria HPBT Match and I like the 1 in 8, it gives me more versitility in my loads.

1:7 better for stabilizing the heavy, very low drag bullets (VLD) at the longer distances. I like the 1:9 for closer in and the 1:7 for "across the field" type of shooting. Ditto on the AR15.com for loading data and FAQ's. 0 -
