cz 75 or hi power
I would appreciate any help on this topic. I live in a rural area where I cannot rent a wide variety of firearms. I am currently interested in either a cz 75 or a browning hi power or clone. What is the main difference or is there one? Both guns seem evenly matched, with excellent reputations on both sides. I would appreciate any pros or cons on either pistol.

i dont know much about cz but i do own a high power. browning is a great manufacturer an right out of the box not a problem with it. if it was me pay the couple of extra dollars for the quality and reliability for the browning, you will never regret it 0 -
for some reason browning hi powers have been scarce for the past year. (brand new expect to pay $600 if you can find one) the cz75 is readily available and will probably be about $400. the browning is a single action while the cz is a double action. i own a sphinx at2000 which is a clone of the cz. i love it. it handles well and i have yet to have a mal-function. both are excellent handguns. i don't think you can go wrong with either. 0 -
I to have never owned a CZ but currently own a FN manufactured Highpower and I would'nt sell it for anything, shoots every time and is very accurite! Browning and FN get my vote every time!!!! 0 -
You mentioned Browning Hi-Power clones. I just sold my FEG PJK-9HP. It was a good gun but the hammer bit the webbing between my thumb and fore-finger every time I fired it. I would go with the CZ if I had to do it all over again. 0 -
Either is a good choice but if you buy a CZ75 find an earlier built gun like made in the 80s. The later built guns lack the quality & reliability of the early ones. 0 -
They are both great guns, but they are so different that their characteristics will probably make the decision for you, not one being "better" than the other. The HP is a single action gun with a magazine safety. The CZ is a double action with no magazine safety. The HP standard high capacity magazine holds 13 9x19 rounds, while the CZ high capacity magazines hold 15 rounds of 9x19. The CZ is one of the most copied designs in firearms history. I have both, but prefer the CZ. 0 -

moenkopi:Will the Sphinx line mags interchange with the CZ's? I am especially interested in the AT380 to CZ83 and the Compact to Compact 9MM interchange. Thanks,Freeman

The at380 mag is too short for the CZ83 unless you can find an AT380 extended hi-cap 15 round mag .380. They will work just fine but will stick out the bottom of the CZ83. They are very hard to find & very expensive.I've got some & had to pay over $100 but they are worth it as they are a quality mag & work extremely well. 0 -
Both the Browning Hi power and the CZ 75 are superb firearms, however the CZ is much, much cheaper, in spite of the same level of quality, and personally I like the feel of the 75 better. My advice would be to get the CZ. They're accurate right out of the box, I've had no problems with mine whatsoever, and they look great. But I would reccomend you take each gun in your hand before you make a purchase and decide for yourself which one feels better. Clearly both are high quality weapons and perhaps feel would make the difference, whichever feels better to you. 0 -
IMHO JudgeColt nailed it on the head. They are very different but equal. I don't have a high opinion of the quality of most of the HP clones but there are many that swear by them. I currently have a CZ 40B and have had NO problems of any kind and am quite pleased.

Thanks guys for all your help. I now have both! Each is slightly different, but they are both great guns.
