Is that the complete serial number, and how is the barrel marked?

Doc,When you break it down the serial number is marked on the receiver and the front of the trigger group. On the far left is the letter T. On the other side is 27XX (not 24XX) On the but plate, 27XX (no T). The rear sight has a roller knob marked 1, 2, 3, and 4 for elevation adjustment. The barrel says, "Browning Arms Company St.Louis Mo.", "Made in Belguim", "22 long Rifle", and "Browning Patents". No sign of the serial number on the barrel, but I did not pull the forearm wood off. There are three proof marks on the bottomof thefloor plate/bolt bottom. One is a D with a star over it. One looks like a bird with a PV under it. And the last looks like the Perron (since 1853) mark. That one also appears one the top of the receiver at the back (nearest the stock).Any info would be greatly appreciated.PS, There is also an H on the trigger guard under the safety button.

Sounds like a 1956 gun to me. Very collectable. No less than $700, probably closer to $850-$900.

Thanks Doc! I finally found a receipt for this gun. He bought it "used" in Stephenville, Tx in 1957. He gave $47.16. Iguess he did pretty good. Think I'll put this on away for a while. Thanks again,
