Maryland gun laws

The AK-47 and all copies is named as a "regulated firearm" under MD law. The law requires a seven day waiting period (Interpreted as seven business days) after an application to purchase or transfer such firearms is executed by the prospective purchaser or transferee and transmitted to the Secretary of the State Police and a fee of $12 is paid. Most such applications are handled by a regulated firearms dealer for a fee, but there is a provision in the law for in-state parties to a secondary sale to submit the application directly to the State Police. However, the law requires that a purchaser from an out of State licensed dealer have such firearm shipped to a regulated dealer for processing. Re hi-cap magazines: Md law (with certain very limited exceptions) makes it illegal to manufacture, offer for sale, purchase, receive, or transfer a detachable magazine with a capacity of more than 20 rounds.[This message has been edited by posh (edited 01-06-2002).]

By the way you also have to watch a 45 minute safety video to purchase any "regulated" firearm in 2002. This means hand guns & assault type guns on the MD state list. This state sucks!!!!! RG
