Failure to cycle

Before Bill Ruger turned against us, I bought one of his .22 semi-auto pistols. Never shot it a heck of a lot (have about 1,000 rds through it.) Last time out, with Winchester Wildcat ammo, I had three failures to cycle. Spent casing ejected but the slide never went back far enough to re-cock the weapon. Ammo was not sub-sonic, gun was clean and there's no way the web of my hand could catch the slide. Anyone have any ideas?

  if the gun is in good working order then problem can be in the ammo. i suggest trying a different brand of ammo,make sure ammo is new. i had the same problem with my ar-15 and it was the ammo,did not have enough power

  I quit using Winchester Wildcat ammo for the same reason. Spend a little more and get some good ammo.
